Church as a Nest (Pt. 5) (Acts 15:25-28, Matthew 23:37, 2 Corinthians 11:3-4)

Part of the Kingdom and Change series, preached at a MacArthur Church service

As Paul travelled from city to city, Christian communities formed to provide a place of safety and equipping. The church today has a similar responsibility. In some ways the church is like a nest, a place to protect, nourish and release new life. Nests should be neither empty or full of mature birds!

Acts 15:25-28

25It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth. 28For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; (KJV)

Matthew 23:37

37O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! (KJV)

2 Corinthians 11:3-4

3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. (KJV)
