Today is the day we remember those who invested themselves and gave their lives in defense of the nation. It is a day that truly belongs on the calendar. The men and women in the armed forces, both now and in years past, ought to be honored for their selfless courage and sacrifice.
Moreover, we should remember those that fight the less obvious war, the war against the memories of war. Please pray for the ones for whom holidays like Veteran’s Day are the triggers that drive them to depression, addiction and, unthinkably, to violence and suicide. As we remember the veterans, remember those who fight the war within themselves long after hanging up their uniform.
